A British engineer known by Dr. Gilmore. Depending on the incarnation, his wife was either maimed and disfigured in a V-1 strike and later committed suicide, or was shot to death. He set to work on developing a machine that would disable weapons and other machinery as a result, but was abducted by Neo-Nazis (or Black Ghost itself) who wished to exploit the "Mad Machine" for themselves, and was taken to Antarctica.
