Wataru Amanogawa was a science teacher at Juuban Municipal High School in the anime. He was an astronomer who had discovered a comet, "Wataru Comet," fifteen years previously. He had been invited to teach at Cambridge University, but declined in order to teach high school. He referred to the comet that he discovered as "Francoise," as though it were a person or, as the Inner Senshi speculated, a girlfriend.
